If you found us through a search engine, you probably already have a website on cyberFolks and are wondering whether moving it elsewhere will be a big hassle. The short answer is no, as long as someone does it for you. In Saplo, migration is free with every plan, so below we explain exactly what happens step by step, so you know what to expect before you submit your request.
Why people switch hosting at all
A typical shared hosting service, regardless of the provider, works on one simple principle: hundreds or thousands of sites sit on a single server and share its CPU, RAM, and process limits. As long as traffic is low, nobody notices. The problem starts when a site grows, another site on the same server gets a traffic spike, or you need to upgrade your plan and discover that the next tier comes with an entirely different contract and a renewal price different from the purchase price.
The most common reasons for migration that we encounter among cyberFolks clients:
- the site slows down during peak hours, even though its own traffic is relatively low, because another site on the same server just received a spike in visits and is consuming the shared pool of resources,
- there is no SSH access or the ability to deploy anything outside WordPress, so every idea involving Django, n8n, or your own Docker requires a separate server and a separate contract,
- the renewal price is clearly higher than the initial purchase price, and the promotional rate from the ad applies only to the first year,
- you have to host WordPress separately, and a Node or Django application separately, leaving you with a collection of several dashboards instead of one place,
- resource limits (number of processes, memory per process, number of databases) are set from above as part of the package and cannot be increased without moving to a more expensive plan.
If any of these points sounds familiar, below you will find the entire path to switching to Saplo, including email, without losing a single email along the way.
What actually sets Saplo apart from cyberFolks
Every Box in Saplo is a separate, isolated container (LXC), not a slice of a shared server. A neighbor that happens to get a traffic spike has no impact on your site, because they do not physically share the same processor or memory with you. This is the fundamental difference compared with classic shared hosting, where all clients on a single machine are queuing for the same resources.
The second difference is scope. WordPress, Next.js, Django, n8n, or your own Docker, all under one account, without separate contracts and without moving to another provider when a project outgrows WordPress. If you have WordPress today and six months from now you need an admin panel in Django or automation in n8n, you deploy it on the same Box, without setting up another account.
Third is price: the fee you pay upfront is not a first-year promotion, but the actual renewal price. If we ever change the price list, we give you at least 30 days' notice before renewal, unlike promotional first-year prices, which can be significantly higher when renewed.
Comparison at a glance
| cyberFolks (shared hosting) | Saplo | |
|---|---|---|
| Resource isolation | none, shared server | full (LXC) |
| SSH access | usually unavailable on lower-tier plans | yes (Box L and higher) |
| Multi-stack | mainly PHP and MySQL | yes, ready-to-use recipes (WP, Next.js, Django, n8n, Docker) |
| depends on the plan, separate limits | included in the plan price | |
| Backup | depends on the plan | included starting with Box L |
| Price after renewal | usually higher than the promotional price | the same as the starting price |
What to prepare before submitting a migration request
We handle migrations entirely ourselves, but to speed things up, it is worth having the following at hand:
- access to the cyberFolks control panel (cPanel or DirectAdmin, depending on your plan) or your FTP and database credentials,
- a list of domains and subdomains that should be migrated along with the website,
- information about your email accounts, if you also use email from cyberFolks and want to migrate it along with the website,
- access to your domain registrar's panel so that you can finally switch the nameservers or A records.
If you do not have any of these, do not worry. Mention it in your request and we will work it out together before we start copying your data.
Migration step by step
- Request. You fill out the form on the migration page (or message us via chat), specifying where you are migrating from and exactly what needs to be transferred.
- Backup. We make a full, verified backup of your cyberFolks site, including the database,
wp-contentfiles, plugins and theme if it is WordPress, or the equivalent files for a different stack. - Test. The site goes live at a temporary address on Saplo (the
*.saploapp.plsubdomain). You check that everything works exactly as it did before, including forms, the admin panel and the store, before we switch anything over. - Domain switch. Once you confirm that the test looks good, we switch the domain to Saplo. DNS records update within a few minutes to a few hours, depending on the TTL previously configured at cyberFolks, and the entire process takes 24 to 48 hours from your request, with virtually no interruption to the site's operation.
What about email at cyberFolks
If you have email accounts with cyberFolks, we migrate them via IMAP to IMAP, so all folders and messages stay in place, just on the other side, along with your correspondence history. We set up aliases and forwarding rules from scratch together with you, so nothing slips through the gap between one server and another. With Saplo, email accounts are included in the plan, with a storage limit depending on the selected plan, and antispam and webmail are included.
How much does it cost?
Migration itself is free, regardless of which Box you choose. You only pay for hosting on Saplo, starting at $29 per year for Box S. The starting price is not a first-year promotion, so you pay the same amount when you renew (we notify you of any price changes at least 30 days in advance). Before choosing a plan, it is worth comparing what you actually pay cyberFolks when renewing your subscription (not just the promotional price for the first year), as well as adding up the separate fees for extras, which on shared hosting often add up to the price of the package itself.
When Migration from cyberFolks Makes Sense
Migration makes the most sense if you recognize yourself in any of the following situations:
- your site slows down during peak hours, even though your own traffic has not changed, because another site on the same server is to blame,
- each renewal costs more, and the difference between the promotional and regular price becomes increasingly noticeable,
- you plan to expand beyond WordPress (for example, you want to add a dashboard in Next.js or automation in n8n) and do not want to set up a separate server for it,
- you need real SSH access to install custom software yourself, and your current package does not allow it.
On the other hand, if you have a simple brochure site that works flawlessly and do not plan to expand it, Migration can wait, unless having a predictable price for the coming years is important to you. We explain more about when it is actually worth considering switching from classic shared hosting to a container-based model such as Saplo in a separate article. Are you migrating from a provider other than cyberFolks? The transfer process is similar, so contact us through the Migration form, and we will match a plan to your current control panel.
Frequently asked questions
Will the site stop working during the migration? No. Your cyberFolks account will continue to work normally until the domain is switched over, and the switch itself comes down to DNS propagation, usually taking a few minutes to a few hours.
What if I have something more than WordPress, for example custom code or an online store? We also migrate Next.js, Django, WooCommerce, and custom applications, along with the database and environment variables. If you're a developer, you also get full SSH access on L plans and above.
Do I need to keep my domain at cyberFolks? No. You can switch the nameservers or A records, and move the domain registration to another registrar later, or leave it where it is. It's your choice.
Do I need to do anything myself? Practically no. You provide access to the cyberFolks panel and approve the final test. We handle all the technical work, including configuring SSL and the web server on the other side.
What about backups after the migration? It depends on the selected plan: Box L and higher include backups as part of the price (7 days of history for Box L, 14 days for Box XL, 30 days plus an off-site copy for Box XXL), and you can add daily backups to Box S and Box M as an extra, so you no longer have to manage the backup schedule yourself as you did with the cyberFolks package.
Can I set up another application alongside it after the migration, for example n8n for automation? Yes, every Box can run any number of applications from Saplo's App catalog on different domains or subdomains, with no need to create another account or pay extra based on the number of applications alone.
If you're ready, requesting a migration takes two minutes, and the rest is on us.
