What is Weblate

Weblate is a platform for managing software translations. Import localization files (PO, JSON, YAML, and other formats), let translators work in a shared interface with context previews and change history, and send finished translations straight back to your Git repository through automated push and pull. It has a different focus than LibreTranslate, which is also in the Saplo catalog. LibreTranslate is a text-to-text machine translation engine called through an API, while Weblate manages the entire collaborative localization workflow for multi-person projects, with role-based access and version control.

Who it's for
  • A development team maintaining an application or website in multiple languages at once
  • A translation agency localizing client projects without emailing files or manually merging versions
  • An open source project where the community translates the interface and every change is reviewed before it reaches the repository
Included

What you get with Weblate.

Your own container

Weblate runs in an isolated container with dedicated RAM and NVMe storage.

SSL certificate

Every domain and subdomain automatically receives a certificate that renews itself.

Email on your own domain

Email accounts are included in your plan, with no limit on the number of mailboxes.

Backups

Daily off-site backup in every Box. Starting with Box L, you can restore backups from the dashboard.

Free migration

Already have Weblate elsewhere? We'll migrate your files and database at no extra cost.

Support in Polish

Get help by email or through support tickets in the dashboard. A specialist who knows your setup will respond.

How it works

From one click to a running Weblate.

  1. 1

    Choose a Box

Weblate will run on Box L. If traffic grows, switch to a larger plan.

  2. 2

    Click Weblate

The container, domain, and SSL certificate are created automatically.

  3. 3

Log in and get to work

You'll find your login details in the dashboard, below the app.

Choose your plan

Which Box to choose for Weblate

It depends on what you use it for. You can change plans later from the dashboard without moving your data.

You don't have to guess. Start with a smaller plan, and if you run out of RAM, we'll add more without restarting your app or moving your data.

On the same Box

What else can you fit? on the same Box

Weblate uses 2 GB of the 6 GB memory included with Box L. That leaves 3.8 GB and 45 GB of disk space, so you can fit up to 145 more apps from the catalog. No extra charge, because you pay for the Box, not the apps themselves.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need server administration skills?

No. We handle the container, domain, SSL certificate, and system updates. Click Weblate in the dashboard, and within seconds you'll have an address and password. If you want SSH access, you'll get full access with sudo, but you don't have to use it.

What if I run out of storage or memory?

You can change your plan from the dashboard, and additional memory is added without restarting the application. You don't need to move your data or set anything up again.

Can Weblate run on my own domain?

Yes. Connect your own domain or use the free saploapp.pl subdomain. The SSL certificate is generated automatically.

Who owns my data?

You do. Your data is stored in a dedicated container, not on a shared account. Every day, we make an off-site backup to a data center in Finland on every plan.

Can I run other apps alongside Weblate?

Yes. The number of apps and domains in your Box is unlimited. Your plan's memory and disk space are the limits.

What if I don't like it?

Saplo.io is not live yet. We'll add you to the waiting list and let you know when the first Box plans become available.

What we don't promise

We are not the cheapest. For 5 € a month, you can get a shared hosting plan that will be enough for a simple website. Saplo makes sense when you want to run your own apps, have SSH access, and avoid sharing your server with a thousand unrelated sites.
